With The Odyssey arriving in cinemas this week, many are already wondering when Christopher Nolan’s epic new blockbuster will be available to stream at home.
While the Universal Pictures release is receiving an exclusive theatrical run first, here’s what we know so far about its likely streaming future in both the US and UK.
What Is ‘The Odyssey’ About?

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem of the same name.
The film follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War. His journey sees him encounter mythological figures and creatures, including the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and Calypso, while trying to reunite with his wife, Penelope.
The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
When Will ‘The Odyssey’ Release On Peacock?

As a Universal Pictures release, The Odyssey is expected to stream on Peacock in the US.
Universal has not officially confirmed a Peacock release date for The Odyssey yet. However, the film is unlikely to arrive on streaming quickly, especially given its scale, premium-format release and Christopher Nolan’s strong commitment to theatrical exhibition.
The film releases in cinemas in the US and UK on July 17, 2026. If Universal gives The Odyssey a longer theatrical window, it may not arrive on Peacock until late 2026 at the earliest.
A possible Peacock release window could fall around November or December 2026, though this remains an estimate until Universal confirms the official date.
When Will ‘The Odyssey’ Be On Sky Cinema And NOW In The UK?

In the UK, The Odyssey is expected to stream on Sky Cinema and NOW.
A UK streaming release date has not been announced yet, but recent Universal titles give us a rough idea of the likely window. Black Phone 2 released on Sky Cinema in June 2026, Wicked: For Good arrived in July 2026, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to debut in August 2026.
Based on that pattern, The Odyssey could arrive on Sky Cinema and NOW around March/April 2027, roughly 8-9 months after its theatrical release.
Given the film’s large-format rollout, Universal may keep The Odyssey on a longer theatrical and premium home entertainment path before it reaches subscription streaming.
Will ‘The Odyssey’ Be Available To Rent Or Buy Digitally First?

Before arriving on Peacock in the US or Sky Cinema and NOW in the UK, The Odyssey will become available to rent or purchase digitally through platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video and Google Play.
However, because The Odyssey is a Christopher Nolan film shot entirely for IMAX presentation, it may receive a longer cinema-first window than some other Universal releases.
The Odyssey releases in cinemas on July 17. Check out a trailer below:
