National Geographic has unveiled Africa: Earth’s Wild Home, a new seven-part natural history series narrated and executive produced by Wunmi Mosaku.
The series premieres on National Geographic on October 2, 2026, before streaming the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Nearly four years in the making and filmed across close to 30 countries, the series launches a new multiyear National Geographic franchise exploring the planet continent by continent.
What Is ‘Africa: Earth’s Wild Home’?
Africa: Earth’s Wild Home is a seven-part event series exploring wildlife, landscapes and the natural forces that have shaped ecosystems across the African continent.
National Geographic says the production captured more of Africa than any of its previous single productions, using new filmmaking technology alongside CGI to explore both present-day wildlife and the history behind the continent’s environments.
The project also launches a wider franchise that will continue to document different continents, combining natural history storytelling with the work of scientists, conservationists and National Geographic Explorers.

Africa: Earth’s Wild Home premieres on October 2 at 8pm ET on National Geographic.
The complete series begins streaming on Disney+ and Hulu on October 3, 2026.
The announcement positions the show as one of National Geographic’s major natural-history launches of the year, with all seven episodes forming the opening chapter of the new continent-by-continent franchise.
What Wildlife Appears In ‘Africa: Earth’s Wild Home’?
The production spent almost four years filming across deserts, forests, jungles, mountains and islands, documenting a wide range of species and behaviours.
Among the footage highlighted by National Geographic is the elusive black rain frog being filmed for television for the first time, hyenas in the Congo hunting elephants at night, a rare wild African black panther and chimpanzees using specialised tools to fish for algae.
Each episode also includes an Explorer Spotlight, focusing on the scientists, photographers and researchers behind the discoveries featured across the series.
Wunmi Mosaku Narrates The New National Geographic Series
Mosaku narrates and executive produces the series, guiding viewers through its stories of adaptation, resilience and survival.
The actor is known for roles including Sinners, Loki and Lovecraft Country, and received an Academy Award nomination before joining the landmark National Geographic production.
The final episode shifts its focus towards the people working to protect Africa’s ecosystems, including conservation leaders, researchers and community-led initiatives.

Africa: Earth’s Wild Home is produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit for National Geographic.
Simon Blakeney serves as executive producer for BBC Studios Natural History Unit. Pam Caragol is executive producer for National Geographic, with Janet Han Vissering serving as senior vice president of Production and Development and Tom McDonald as executive vice president of National Geographic Content.
The series is presented by Rolex and forms part of the long-running partnership between National Geographic, the National Geographic Society and the Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative.
