Ahead of the theatrical release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland has launched a brand new short film as part of its ongoing ‘The Magic of Movies’ campaign, supporting long-time charity partner MediCinema.
The 70 second short, titled Escape to Another World, has been released to raise awareness of the work MediCinema does for NHS hospital patients across the UK, while also encouraging audiences to support the charity’s mission.
What is ‘Escape to Another World’ about?

Created in collaboration with Feref and produced by Tinderflint, the film follows a young Star Wars fan in hospital who escapes into the galaxy far, far away through the magic of cinema. As he imagines himself within the world of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the story eventually returns to his hospital bed, where an invitation to a special MediCinema screening helps ease his anxiety.
The campaign aims to highlight the comfort, escapism and sense of normality cinema can provide to children and families facing difficult circumstances in hospital settings.
What is MediCinema?

MediCinema is a UK charity that builds and runs cinemas inside hospitals, with spaces designed for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment. Through free screenings, the organisation brings the cinema experience directly to patients and their loved ones during hospital stays.
Disney has partnered with MediCinema for decades through its wider Movie Moments initiative, which supports children and communities through screenings, hospital experiences and charitable programmes connected to Disney storytelling.
The short film will also play in Vue cinemas nationwide ahead of select screenings of The Mandalorian and Grogu from today, May 22. Audiences will also be encouraged to donate to MediCinema online and at participating Vue cinema locations.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is now playing in cinemas. Check out the trailer below:
