Doctor Who: The Satan Pit is heading to cinemas for a special one-night-only event celebrating Doctor Who Day and 20 years of the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler.
BBC Studios, CinemaLive and Fathom Entertainment have confirmed that The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit will be presented together as a newly re-edited, movie-length cinematic cut in more than 1,000 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on November 23.
The event follows Doctor Who‘s previous big-screen return for the Season 2 finale and brings one of David Tennant and Billie Piper’s most memorable adventures to cinemas for the first time.
What Is In ‘Doctor Who: The Satan Pit’ Extended Cut?
The new version combines the two 2006 episodes into a single theatrical presentation. Deleted scenes that were previously available separately on DVD have been restored directly into the story, while the cinema cut will also include previously unseen extended footage.
The screening will feature additional bonus material, including an exclusive interview with director and producer James Strong reflecting on the making of the two-part story.
The event marks 20 years since David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper’s Rose travelled together in Series 2. Tennant later returned to the franchise as the Fourteenth Doctor, including in Doctor Who: The Star Beast.
What Is ‘The Satan Pit’ About?
The story sees the Doctor and Rose arrive at Sanctuary Base 6, a remote outpost on a planet orbiting a black hole. After the crew discover an ancient force beneath the surface, the Doctor encounters the Beast while the Ood become caught up in the growing threat.
The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit originally aired in June 2006 during Tennant’s first full series as the Doctor, introducing the Ood and placing the Doctor and Rose against a threat that claims to pre-date the universe itself.

Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut will screen for one night only on November 23, 2026. The event has a listed runtime of approximately 120 minutes and tickets are now on sale through participating cinemas.
