Saturday Night Live UK is set to return for a second season at Sky, following the launch of the British adaptation earlier this year.
According to an exclusive report from Variety, the series has secured a renewal despite mixed overnight ratings across its debut run.
Sky has since confirmed that Season 2 will air across late 2026 and early 2027, beginning in September with an initial 12-episode order. Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said in a statement:
“I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week. I’m grateful to Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting ‘SNL U.K.’ I’m excited for the season ahead.”
Sky Doubles Down on ‘Saturday Night Live UK’

The UK adaptation has become a notable investment for Sky, with reports suggesting each episode carries a budget of approximately £2 million, a figure considered unusually high for a British sketch comedy series.
While viewing figures have fluctuated throughout the first season, the series has reportedly performed well for Sky’s subscription-based platform model. The premiere episode, hosted by Tina Fey, drew 226,000 viewers before later episodes dipped below 120,000. More recent episodes hosted by Nicola Coughlan and Aimee Lou Wood saw ratings begin to recover.
Beyond linear viewing figures, several sketches from the series have generated strong online engagement. The Prince Andrew cold open from Episode 2 reportedly surpassed 2.4 million YouTube views, while a more recent sketch featuring King Charles and Queen Camilla also drew significant attention online.
The first season of Saturday Night Live U.K. has featured a range of high-profile hosts including Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, and Jimmy Fallon appearing as a guest. Upcoming episodes are set to feature Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa as hosts before the season concludes.
