Update: The Super Bowl has concluded and this article has been updated with every movie trailer shown.
The big game is finally here — Super Bowl LIX kicks off Sunday, February 9, at 6:30 pm ET, and with it comes a whole slough of movie trailers for the biggest blockbusters releasing all the way through summer. It doesn’t matter if you’re rooting for the Chiefs or the Eagles, there’s something for everyone when it comes to the trailers! Whether it’s for the latest Marvel movie or a sequel to a hit horror film, we’ll be continually updating this article with everything that drops leading up to the game throughout the week, as well as during it.
What Trailers Are Releasing At Super Bowl LIX?

When it comes to knowing what trailers will release at the Super Bowl this year, frankly there are more rumors than actual facts. But let’s start with what we do know. First off, what’s not playing at the Super Bowl is a trailer for Superman. James Gunn has instead opted to deliver a special look during the Puppy Bowl, where he’ll make an appearance alongside his dog Ozu (the inspiration for the movie’s version of Krypto).
Next, we know of a couple trailers that will release in the lead up to the big game. The very first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives Tuesday, which will presumably be our first official look at Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. That will then be followed on Wednesday by the first trailer for Garth Edwards’ Jurassic World: Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. Past that, a teaser for M3GAN 2.0 aired before the Grammys this past Sunday, and its expected to have a more substantial trailer during the big game. Here are some other movies expected to get trailers during the Super Bowl this year:
- Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning
- Thunderbolts*
- How To Train Your Dragon
- Lilo & Stitch
- Elio
- Smurfs
- Novocaine
’The Fantastic Four: First Steps’
Marvel’s first family has finally arrived in the MCU. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and even H.E.R.B.I.E. are all here! The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases in theaters on July 25.
Check our our Fantastic Four trailer breakdown here.
’Jurassic World: Rebirth’
After the third and seemingly final Jurassic World movie came out to poor critical reception, it was unclear where the franchise would go next. But in the words of Dr. Ian Malcolm, “Life, uh, finds a way.” This new entry is directed by Gareth Edwards, and marks the start of a terrifying new era with fresh characters. Jurassic World: Rebirth releases in theaters on July 2.
‘Smurfs’
The Smurfs are back – and it looks to be a smurfing good time. Rihanna is Smurfette! Need we say more? Okay fine… there’s actually a whole all-star lineup of talent voicing the Smurfs, including Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Dan Levy, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, John Goodman, and Billie Lourd. Smurfs releases in theaters on July 18.
‘Novocaine’
He was a man who can’t physically feel pain. She was the girl of his dreams. Now he has to save her after she’s kidnapped. Jack Quaid stars as Nathan Caine, alongside Amber Midthunder as his girlfriend, in Novocaine, releasing in theaters on March 14.
‘The Studio’
Duhpocalypse starring Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson releases— wait. It’s not an actual movie? That’s right, we’ve been faked out by a promo for Seth Rogen’s new series, The Studio. The AppleTV+ original premieres on March 26.
‘Lilo & Stitch’
Something quite odd happened before kickoff… a little blue ball of fur ran across the field. That chaotic little guy is none other than Stitch! Hopefully we’ll also be getting a full trailer for Lilo & Stitch later. The film hits theaters on May 23.
‘How To Train Your Dragon’
If you liked How To Train Your Dragon, you’ll probably like the new live-action remake, as it’s uncannily similar at some points. But hey, no judgment for anyone who wishes to return to the incredible Isle of Berk. Starring Mason Thames as Hiccup, How To Train Your Dragon releases in theaters on June 13.
‘Thunderbolts*’
Marvel’s antiheroes are finally joining together in a chaotic team called the Thunderbolts. We’ve got everyone from Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) to Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) to Ghost (Ava Starr) and more. We’ll find out just what that asterisk in the title means with Thunderbolts* releases in theater on May 2.
Check out our Thunderbolts* trailer breakdown here.
’F1’
After directing Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski is back for more high-speed thrills with F1. Brad Pitt stars in the driver’s seat alongside Damson Idris and Kerry Condon. There’s currently no set release date, but F1 releases in theaters this summer.
‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’
Tom Cruise is still at it as Ethan Hunt, and the mission is impossible yet again. But is it really? And is it actually the final reckoning? We’ll see when Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning releases in theaters on May 23.
