The DC Studios’ Lanterns Episode 3 trailer has been released by HBO, offering a new look at what’s next for John Stewart and Hal Jordan following the events of Episode 2.
What Does the ‘Lanterns’ Episode 3 Trailer Reveal?
The new footage appears set to explore more of John’s past, with several glimpses of flashbacks from different points in his life.
The trailer also shows John Stewart meeting Laura Linney’s character, a Guardian of the Universe, with the series set to dive even deeper into the ever-expanding cosmic side of the Green Lantern mythos introduced across the opening episodes. Another brief shot appears to show old archival television footage of Hal Jordan, complete with the classic Green Lantern domino mask.
Sinestro Makes His ‘Lanterns’ Debut in Episode 2
Episode 2 ended with Hal travelling off-world to visit his former ally Sinestro, played by Ulrich Thomsen, in an intergalactic prison.
When Hal asks what Sinestro knows about the Manhunters, the former Green Lantern warns that a surviving Manhunter would only be the “second-greatest threat” Hal is currently facing.
According to Sinestro, the greater threat is John Stewart. That ominous warning leaves another major question hanging over Episode 3 as the series begins to reveal more about John and his history.
When Does ‘Lanterns’ Episode 3 Release?
Lanterns Episode 3 will premiere on August 30 on HBO and HBO Max.
The episode looks set to reveal more about John Stewart’s past while continuing the wider mystery surrounding Rushville, the Manhunter and Hal Jordan’s relationship with Sinestro.
