With Toy Story 5 arriving in cinemas this summer, many Pixar fans are already wondering when Woody, Buzz and the gang will make their long-awaited return to Disney+.
While the fifth instalment in the iconic Pixar franchise is receiving an exclusive theatrical release first, here’s what we know so far about the film’s likely streaming future in both the US and UK.
What is ‘Toy Story 5’ about?

Produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 follows Jessie and Buzz Lightyear as Bonnie becomes increasingly attached to a tablet-like device named Lilypad instead of playing with traditional toys.
The film explores how modern technology is changing childhood play, with the toys facing an existential crisis as they struggle to remain relevant in an increasingly digital world.
The returning voice cast includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack as Jessie, alongside Greta Lee, Conan O’Brien, Craig Robinson and Keanu Reeves.
When will ‘Toy Story 5’ release on Disney+?

As a Disney and Pixar release, Toy Story 5 will eventually stream exclusively on Disney+.
Disney has not officially confirmed a streaming release date yet. However, recent Pixar films have generally arrived on Disney+ between 80 and 100 days after their theatrical debut.
If Toy Story 5 follows a similar release strategy, the film could begin streaming sometime between September and October 2026. Because Disney handles global distribution for Pixar films, it is also extremely likely that the US and UK Disney+ release dates will land simultaneously.
Will ‘Toy Story 5’ be available to rent or buy digitally first?

Before arriving on Disney+, Toy Story 5 will likely become available to rent or purchase digitally through platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video and Google Play.
Disney typically releases its major theatrical films digitally several weeks before they begin streaming on Disney+, meaning viewers may be able to watch the film at home earlier through Premium Video On Demand services.
Toy Story 5 releases in cinemas on June 19. Check out the trailer below:
