HBO Max UK has just announced the highlights heading to the service next month, with a number of new originals, and the arrival of Emerald Fennell’s iteration of Wuthering Heights.
These are the May highlights for HBO Max UK, subject to change, and additional titles may be announced throughout the month.
‘Wuthering Heights’

A bold and original interpretation of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, whose forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love and madness.
Also starring Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell, the Warner Bros. film arrives as one of the platform’s biggest releases of the month.
Releasing on May 1.
‘Song of the Samurai’

Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period, Song of the Samurai explores the intense and passionate lives of the Shinsengumi – the iconic samurai force that defended Kyoto in the final years of Japan’s shogunate – through spectacular action and a bold interpretation based on historical facts. Street brawler Toshizo Hijikata (Yuki Yamada), finds a new kind of family in Isami Kondo and Soji Okita. Hijikata and his comrades in the Shinsengumi forge a bond of loyalty – tested by betrayal, illness, and war – as they fight not only their enemies but their own ideals.
The eight-episode original Japanese series debuts weekly throughout May.

‘On the Roam’ Season 2

ON THE ROAM is a six-part cinematic docuseries following Jason Momoa as he travels the country chasing art, adventure, and friendship through the lens of craftsmanship.
The Max Original unscripted series returns for a second season with new weekly episodes.

‘Josh Johnson: Symphony’

Johnson debuts original material about our shared experiences as humans – tackling topics like family, religion, and relationships through his unique point of view and signature creativity. Viewers can expect a truly original and unforgettable experience. The special was filmed at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
The HBO Original comedy special arrives later this month.

‘We Are Jeni’

A documentary special that follows the remarkable true story of an Australian woman, Jeni Haynes, who created more than 2,500 identities to confront a lifetime of unimaginable abuse at the hands of her father and bring him to justice.
This Investigation Discovery documentary is one of the month’s most powerful true story releases.
Releasing on May 8.
‘U.S. Against the World: Four Years With The Men’s National Soccer Team’

The series exclusively chronicles the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) in the leadup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America this June. Filmed over the course of four years, it follows Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Tim Weah, Weston McKennie, and an array of U.S. players on their personal and collective journeys toward their sport’s signature global event.
The five-part HBO Original sports documentary series rolls out weekly.

‘The A List: 15 Stories From Asia and Pacific Diasporas’

The documentary is a tapestry of personal vignettes from across the Asian American, Native Hawai’ian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities in America. The film captures lived experiences from high-profile celebrities like Sandra Oh, to unsung heroes like Madelyn Yu, a critical care nurse who immigrated from the Philippines. These intimate first-person accounts invite viewers to question umbrella terms like “Asian American” and “AAPI,” and instead draw focus to the individuals and the communities themselves.
This HBO Original documentary arrives as part of the platform’s May documentary slate.

Continuing HBO Max Weekly Releases

May also continues weekly releases for the third season of Euphoria and the second season of The Pitt, alongside the final two episodes of Rooster and the final episodes of series three of The Comeback.

In addition to entertainment content, HBO Max continues to expand into live sports.
The UEFA Champions League semi-finals continue on May 5, while the Europa League and Conference League semi-finals conclude on May 7. Football fans can also catch Premier League action throughout the month, alongside MotoGP of France, UFC 328, PREM Rugby, World Rally Championship: Portugal, LIV Golf Virginia and more live sport on TNT Sports.
