The Reality War is coming. After weeks of cryptic dialogue and teasing glimpses, Doctor Who has finally pulled back the curtain on one of its most mysterious new figures — and the twist is bigger than anyone expected. In a dramatic reveal during The Interstellar Song Contest, Anita Dobson’s enigmatic Mrs Flood was unveiled as none other than the Rani — a classic villain from the show’s storied past, now reimagined in a bi-generated twist that introduces Emmy Award-winner Archie Panjabi into the mix. In the first part of the Doctor Who Season 2 finale, titled Wish World, releasing this week, traps are sprung and old enemies unite as the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda (Varada Sethu) finally arrive home to find a very different world. Battle rages across the skies as the Unholy Trinity unleash their deadly ambition. The Doctor, Belinda and Ruby have to risk everything in the quest to save one innocent life.

The Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa, leads the charge in this climactic episode. He is joined by his companions: Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, and Ruby Sunday, portrayed by Millie Gibson.
Key supporting characters include The Unholy Trinity, comprised of Mrs. Flood, whose true identity as the Rani was recently revealed, played by Anita Dobson. Joining her side is the recently bi-generated The Rani, played by Archie Panjabi, and Conrad Clark, Ruby’s former boyfriend turned antagonist, is portrayed by Jonah Hauer-King.

Where Can I Watch “The Reality War”?

The episode will premiere on Saturday, May 31st 2025, during a primetime evening slot of 6:50 pm on BBC One. It will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer at the same time. Unlike earlier episodes this season, “The Reality War” will not have an early morning iPlayer release; instead, it will debut simultaneously with the TV broadcast to ensure a unified viewing experience
