The Doctor Who Season 2 Trailer has been released during BBC One’s coverage of the FA Cup Fifth Round fixture between Manchester United and Fulham. Ncuti Gatwa returns as The Doctor next month, alongside new companion Belinda Chandra (played by Varada Sethu), as well as returning companion Ruby Sunday – last seen in the 2024 Christmas Special “Joy To The World”. Season 2 promises to be an exciting follow-up, with terrorising robots, a new episode inspired by Eurovision, cartoons that come to life and a new mysterious force that threatens The Doctor.
The show has currently been talked about heavily with the status surrounding a potential third season up in the air because of tabloid reporting and a lack of renewal for the show. The upcoming second season has always been stated as being the jumping off point for any form of renewal, after the Disney and BBC deal was originally for 26 episodes, which will be up with the release of The War Between The Land and Sea later this year on the BBC and Disney+.
