Review
Following a week without rehearsals due to being banned for breaking rules and trespassing in North High, the Wildcats have another week off from rehearsals as they spend time at home during Spring Break. An absolutely brilliant and very realistic plot line!…

Gina is headed to Louisiana for Spring Break, and whilst at the airport waiting for her delayed flight hilariously attempts to get on another using a French accent mimicking her role in the show as Babette. At first it was quite cringe but the scene ended up being quite funny, especially following the Check In assistant revealing she overheard Gina’s normal accent. Gina’s whole airport plot is a very fun addition to the episode, especially since later in the episode, Asher Angel’s Jack joins up with her, for a mini Andi Mack reunion, which is hilariously nodded to, with Jack telling Gina she looks awfully familiar.
Jack and Gina’s chaos (which isn’t as extreme as it sounds), as mentioned is a really great addition to the episode, and whilst I don’t see Asher Angel coming back to the series in the future, it would be a shame not to bring him back sometime in the future, because Jack was a really fun character… EJ soon shows up to pick up Gina from the airport as her flight is completely delayed to the following day, and you have to ask… when are they getting together?

We jump to Ricky, who is in Chicago visiting his mother, and it appears Ricky isn’t coping following him and Nini separating… Ricky’s Mum is aware of it all and asks if Ricky wants to do anything, and he is quite reluctant to attempt to do anything. Emotions are high this week for Ricky, but ultimately he opens up to his Mum and also writes a kick ass song which is one of the best songs the series has produced… Meanwhile, Nini is beginning to live stream for her 15,000 followers on Instagram, and it is very reminiscent of her real life success with music, and Olivia Rodrigo herself being one of the biggest names in music right now.
North High upload a diss video towards East High and hilariously call them out for taking a week’s break whilst North High headed to New York for an immersive trip to get into the zone for their competition, which is only weeks away… The Wildcats decide to bite back. and give the North High kids a taste of their own medicine… The video itself is a music video, using a song written by Nini and Ashylnn, and it really feels like Season 1 again with this performance, and it definitely is fresh feel for the season following something that has felt lacklustre up until this point. The song itself is really good, and very catchy too.
‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’: Season 2 – “Spring Break” Review – Final Thoughts
I was genuinely very impressed with this episode, and I have hope for the final three episodes of the season to finish on a high, and cannot wait to see what they do with it…. Tensions are really high as we head into the Menkies with the two schools going head to head very soon, only time will tell who wins, but after this week’s episode, my attention is back on this series! Two incredible and fun songs really boosted an episode, which was carried by Jack and Gina’s airport plot-line… roll on next week
