High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is back once again on Disney+, and this week, the Wildcats come together to prepare for all-out war against North High in “Yes, And…”! Read my spoiler-filled thoughts below:
I am finally back with the weekly reviews, and I couldn’t be happier – I’ve been watching and keeping up with the series in the background whilst finishing my uni assessments so it’s fun to be properly watching again!

Review
When I found out that Lily was a double-agent, I was excited to see how everything would kick off when North High would. North High announce their Beauty and the Beast performance and it all kicks off – the group band together to react to the news, and the episode starts really well…

It is revealed once again that Gina has decided against leaving Salt Lake… make your mind up Disney! It is still unclear how many of the current cast will be returning for a potential third season, but I imagine that ultimately some of the leads (including Olivia Rodrigo, could soon leave the show to move onto bigger things)
Nini. now having returned to East High, is cast as the Enchanted Rose for East High’s musical production of “Beauty of the Beast” and throughout the episode, Nini attempts to write a song for a duet between the Rose and the duet. As a former musical theatre star of the stage (my highlights include Ensemble Members #1, #32, #7 in musicals such as Hairspray, Fame, Singing in the Rain and also the role of Eugene in Grease- a personal favourite) the thing that strikes me about the realism of the whole rivalry musical plot is, 1) how are two schools in the same area allowed to perform the same musical, in such close proximity to each other? and 2) Are they allowed to add their own songs to a licenced musical?

The additional song, however, could prove to be a big plot point going forward, especially with Carlos recording Nini performing the song in the closing moments of the episode, and posting it on the Drama Club’s Instagram page (which is what I expect to happen anyway). I could see North High stealing this song and using it in their own production and maybe this gets North High disqualified, so East High can win?? We’ll have to wait and see…
I genuinely found this episode very funny, I am a fool for cheap humour and found myself laughing so much watching this episode, sometimes the laughs are maybe not what the writers have intended perhaps, but the cheesiness is so hard to not laugh at.

The obvious “shipping” of Gina and Ricky is so forced, and I really don’t like the direction the series is going. Split up Nini and Ricky… so Ricky can be with Gina – big fat NO. The Ricky and Miss Jenn stuff is great, and its a lot of good character development for Ricky
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – “Yes, And..” Review – Final Thoughts
The episode is definitely a fun one, and whilst not on par with previous episodes in the series, I had a really fun time watching it.
