Almost 20 years after the release of The Simpsons Movie, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are heading back to cinemas in The Simpsons 2, with Disney’s 20th Century Studios officially setting a theatrical release for July 23, 2027.
Disney Finally Announces A Sequel To ‘The Simpsons Movie’

The sequel to the 2007 hit has been on the wishlist of fans for years, myself included, but Disney has now confirmed that Springfield’s most iconic family will return for another big screen adventure. Alongside the announcement, the studio unveiled the film’s first poster, with Homer’s iconic doughnut flourished with ‘2’ sprinkles in honour of the sequel, paired with the tagline, “Homer’s Coming Back For Seconds.”

The film has taken the place of an untitled Marvel project, which has been removed from the studio’s schedule. Disney and 20th Century haven’t confirmed any plot details for the film at this time.
