Batman/Deadpool is officially bringing Marvel and DC Comics back together for the first time in over 20 years. The limited crossover event, first teased back in March and now revealed exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, will launch this September with a one-shot that pits the Merc with a Mouth against the Dark Knight himself. The last time the editorial offices of Marvel and DC crossed omniversal boundaries was in 2003’s JLA/Avengers by Kurt Busiek and George Pérez, making this long-awaited reunion a major moment in comic book history.
‘Batman/Deadpool’ Arrives This September

Teased all the way back in March, Batman/Deadpool is finally confirmed, marking the first time in over two decades that Marvel and DC Comics will officially cross paths again. This long-awaited one-shot will throw Wade Wilson, the Merc with a Mouth, headfirst into Gotham’s grim underworld, where he inevitably crosses paths with the Caped Crusader. Hired for a mysterious job on Gotham’s crime-ridden streets, Deadpool quickly finds himself tangled in a web of chaos that only a Batman-level intervention can unravel. While full plot details remain tightly under wraps, the announcement teases more “exciting Marvel and DC character match-ups” to come, suggesting this is far from a one-and-done affair. Both publishers seem poised to make the most out of this unprecedented partnership, with Batman/Deadpool serving as just the beginning of a broader crossover initiative stretching into 2026.
The one-shot will be co-published by Marvel and DC, each offering their own unique creative take. DC’s edition sees the return of legendary writer Grant Morrison, teaming up once more with the dynamic Dan Mora—an artist whose work has defined the look of superhero comics throughout the 2020s. The two previously collaborated on Klaus, and their reunion here promises a bold, reality-warping ride through Gotham. Marvel’s one-shot features writer Zeb Wells, currently known for his run on Amazing Spider-Man, alongside artist Greg Capullo, whose recent work on Wolverine: Revenge has kept fans buzzing. With two powerhouse creative teams on board and more crossovers on the horizon, Batman/Deadpool is shaping up to be a landmark moment in comic history, one that fans on both sides have waited a very long time to see.
Grant Morrison and Dan Mora Discuss ‘Batman/Deadpool’

“I don’t do many comics these days but there was no way I could turn down the chance to work with Dan Mora again, one of my all-time favorite artistic collaborators — and definitely no way I could turn down Batman and Deadpool! Expect 4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter!” – Grant Morrison on Batman/Deadpool
“This is more than I ever imagined I could do in my career, and it is a huge honor to be part of this crossover: it doesn’t happen too often, and I am a huge Deadpool fan! When I first worked with Grant, I didn’t know what to expect, but it was an incredible team-up. I always hoped to work with Grant again, and working on Batman/Deadpool is like a dream come true. Grant and I working together on this once-in-a-lifetime project is going to be such a fun experience.”- Dan Mora on Batman/Deadpool
The details of what’s to come in 2026 remain under wraps, including the creative teams behind them, but we do know that a new set of one-shots bringing characters from both universes together are coming.
Batman/Deadpool is set to hit comic book store shelves on September 17 from both publishers. Let’s just hope we also get a slew of awesome variant covers really making the most out of this event. Hopefully, by then, we will have a better idea of what’s to come in the planned 2026 set of one-shots.
