DC Studios’ Clayface opens in UK and US cinemas on October 23, 2026, introducing audiences to a distinctly darker take on one of Gotham City’s villains. However, fans hoping to watch it at home will likely have to wait until the end of the year.
Warner Bros. has not confirmed a digital purchase, rental or HBO Max premiere date. Nevertheless, the distributor’s recent release patterns provide a useful basis for estimating when Clayface could make the jump from cinemas to streaming.
When Will ‘Clayface’ Stream On HBO Max?

Our prediction is that Clayface will arrive on HBO Max in both the US and UK on Friday, January 8, 2027. That would be 77 days after its theatrical release. This is an estimate, not a date announced by HBO Max or Warner Bros.
The comparison is particularly relevant because Warner Bros.’ Wuthering Heights opened in US cinemas on February 13, 2026 and reached HBO Max on May 1, 77 days later. The studio’s The Bride! also made its HBO Max debut on May 22, following a March 6 cinema release, again a 77-day wait.
That makes January 8 a reasonable target for Clayface, especially as it falls on a Friday, although a strong cinema performance or a different holiday strategy could push the release further into January or February. HBO Max availability and dates remain subject to confirmation in each territory.
Can Sky Subscribers Watch ‘Clayface’ On HBO Max?

Since HBO Max launched in the UK in March 2026, its Basic with Ads plan has been included at no additional cost with several Sky subscriptions. That includes Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers with Ultimate TV, plus Sky Q customers on Sky Signature, Sky Entertainment and other eligible packages. Sky+ customers can also access HBO Max content through their Sky service, while Sky Essential TV alone is not eligible for the included HBO Max plan.
There is an important catch for newly released films. HBO Max confirms that Basic with Ads excludes movies arriving on the service for the first time after their cinema run. If Clayface follows that release model, eligible Sky customers receiving HBO Max Basic with Ads would need to upgrade to Standard with Ads or a higher plan to stream the film through HBO Max. HBO Max currently lists a £1-per-month upgrade from the included Basic plan to Standard with Ads for eligible Sky customers.
Sky Cinema is a separate service, and Sky has confirmed that it continues to carry new Warner Bros. films, but a Sky Cinema release for Clayface has not been announced. NOW Entertainment members also receive HBO Max Basic with Ads at no extra cost, subject to the same new-release movie restriction. Neither Clayface‘s UK streaming date nor its specific Sky or HBO Max availability has been confirmed.
When Could ‘Clayface’ Release Digitally?

Tuesday, December 8, 2026 is our current prediction for its digital purchase and rental release. It would give the film a 46-day exclusive theatrical window and place it on digital storefronts in time for Christmas viewing.
That figure is not arbitrary: Warner Bros. released Wuthering Heights digitally on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, exactly 46 days after its February 13 cinema debut. Clayface could follow a similar pattern, but its digital date has not been announced.
When it eventually arrives, viewers should expect the usual buy-or-rent options through digital retailers such as Apple TV and Prime Video’s store. Purchasing a film through Prime Video is separate from watching it as part of a Prime subscription.
What Is ‘Clayface’ About?

Directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the DC horror thriller follows actor Matt Hagen, played by Tom Rhys Harries. After a brutal attack leaves him disfigured, an experimental treatment restores his appearance while setting him on an increasingly destructive path.
The cast includes Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan.
Clayface arrives in UK and US cinemas on October 23, 2026. December 8 and January 8 are Popped’s predictions, not confirmed digital or HBO Max dates. Check out a trailer below:
