HBO Max has released the official trailer for Lanterns, with the DC Studios drama series set to premiere in the UK and Ireland on 17 August.
The trailer debuted during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which featured stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Garret Dillahunt and Poorna Jagannathan.
Co-creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King also appeared during the panel to discuss the upcoming eight-episode series.
‘Lanterns’ Follows An Earth-Based Murder Mystery
Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler.
The two intergalactic law enforcers are drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery with cosmic connections as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
The series is based on the Green Lantern characters from DC Comics and is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
Who Stars In ‘Lanterns’?
Alongside Pierre and Chandler, the series stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
Mundy, Lindelof and King co-wrote the pilot and serve as co-creators, with Mundy also acting as showrunner.
The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes, while Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov have also directed episodes of the series.
Executive producers include Mundy, Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt and Hawes.
Lanterns premieres exclusively on HBO Max on August 17.
