Nearly 30 years after first swinging his way into the hearts of comedy fans, Adam Sandler is returning to the golf course in Happy Gilmore 2. The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 cult classic was officially unveiled during Netflix’s TUDUM global fan event, complete with an appearance from the cast as well as a trailer that reignites the franchise’s signature blend of outrageous sports comedy and heartfelt underdog charm.

Sandler once again stars as the unpredictable but determined Happy Gilmore, joined by several familiar faces from the 1996 film. Julie Bowen reprises her role as Virginia Venit, Happy’s love interest and PR partner, while Christopher McDonald returns as his fan-favourite nemesis, Shooter McGavin. Also back are Ben Stiller as Hal L., Allen Covert as Otto, and Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson. Adding to the nostalgic callbacks, Blake Clark makes a surprise return as Farmer Fran—his character from another Sandler hit, The Waterboy—suggesting a possible crossover moment between Sandler’s cinematic universe.

Beyond the core ensemble, Happy Gilmore 2 features a stacked supporting cast. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, appears as Happy’s new caddy, Kym Whitley plays Bessie, a no-nonsense member of Happy’s support group, while a host of new and familiar actors take on undisclosed roles. Ethan Cutkosky, professional wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), rapper-actor Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), Haley Joel Osment, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Philip Fine Schneider, Conor Sherry, veteran SNL writer Jim Downey, and comic favourite Nick Swardson also star, with Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny, also set to appear.

In true Happy Gilmore fashion, the sequel promises a heavy dose of real-world sports stars. A jaw-dropping lineup of professional golfers is set to make cameo appearances, including legends like Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino (the latter reprising his cameo from the original), alongside modern stars Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, and Paige Spiranac. But the cameos don’t stop at the PGA Tour. Rapper Eminem, NFL star Reggie Bush, Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, WWE’s Becky Lynch, and broadcaster Dan Patrick are all confirmed to appear in what’s shaping up to be one of the most cameo-packed comedies in recent memory.

Directed by Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery) and co-written by Sandler and long-time collaborator Tim Herlihy, Happy Gilmore 2 brings back key creative figures from the original. Dennis Dugan, who directed the first film, returns as a producer.
