Task Force M is here and they’re not fucking around. Episode 2 of Creature Commandos is now streaming on Max and brings some much needed backstory to some of its biggest characters and really gets things moving when those very same characters come into contact with the fierce Amazonian sorceress they were sent to defeat.

Our episode kicks off with the introduction of Victor Frankenstein and his very first creation… Frankenstein (yeah I know, but he’s called Frankenstein in this). Victor is nervous and tells Frankenstein that he isn’t sure if he should make another being like him, as they stand around miscellaneous limbs set in ice, set out for Frankenstein to create his perfect bride. Frank insists and thus the Bride is born!

The only thing is that getting a creation like that to the state of mental capacity that Frankenstein is at will take time and patience, something that Frank doesn’t have a ton of, lusting for a partner in life.

Switching back to present day, Rick Flag is injured from his fight with Phos, as his mere touch can burn through pretty much anything. This leads Ilana to tend to his wounds which leads to the two  hooking up in the bathroom as Phos, Weasel, and GI Robot stand guard outside.

Rick is hesitant, believing it a conflict of interest and initially denying her advances back in episode 1. He thinks it unethical as he is there on a job and supposed to be protecting the princess, not hooking up with her. Of course one thing leads to another and Flag eventually gives in and what ensues is the trio outside the door stalling her knight as things continue inside the bathroom.

The Bride and Nina stroll through the castle, the Bride seems to be looking for something. Seeing glimpses of her past as she wanders the halls of the now in disrepair castle. Nina pesters the Bride, continuously asking her questions about why they were there and what she was looking for and the Bride can only say a necklace, a certain necklace gifted to her. Nina finds it under rubble and hands it Bride, causing a flashback to her time with Victor.

This is where we start to see her upbringing, Victor is working with her often to strengthen her mind and make her a capable being. Frank is impatient, making unwanted advances that scare the living shit out of the Bride as she doesn’t understand what’s going on because she’s been alive for just weeks to months at this point. Frankenstein begins to lash out at Victor, claiming that he isn’t making quick enough process and he attacks Victor before eventually giving up and leaving the room.

The Bride gets what she is looking for, but she isn’t the one to find it, Nina, under a piece of debris, spots the tourmaline necklace and hands it off to the Bride, looking relieved to have found the piece, not knowing what was heading their way.

We yet again flash back to the Brides past and her time with Victor within the castle. Their relationship has grown, becoming quite close at this point. Following a lesson, Victor pulls out a box and hands it to the Bride, giving her a gift. The Bride doesn’t understand but thanks him for the box. Victor chuckles as the Bride opens the box to reveal the necklace from earlier in the episode. Bride doesn’t fully understand what to do with it but Victor quickly explains and puts it on for her.

Unfortunately for Bride and Nina, they have no time to reminisce As Circe and the sons arrive at the castle, to the annoyance of the Bride who quickly jumps prepares to face off against the sorceress. Back at Ilana’s castle, Flag argues with Phosphorous for not telling him that Bride and Nina cut town, pulling them all quickly into a humvee and setting off for Frankensteins Castle to help.

Nina flees the castle at the command of the Bride who continues throwing down with Circe, putting up much more of a fight than most would assume she’s able to. During the fight we see more flashes back to her past, revealing her time learning with Victor lead to a romantic encounter, getting together in what they think is private, but Frankenstein ventures into the room and is quickly shocked at what lays before him.

In the next flashback it is revealed that Frankenstein took matters into his own undead hands, killing Victor out of jealousy and anger, believing him to be the reason as to why him and the Bride had yet to marry, believing him to be a roadblock in his pursuit of his perfect Bride.

Bride puts up a good fight, but in the end is bested by Circe and her magic, turning the Brides’ arms to wacky inflatable tube men and kicking her off the the wall of the castle, landing her right next to Nina, who lies gasping for water as her dome had been shot and destroyed by some Sons.

The episode ends with a montage of Frankenstein chasing the Bride throughout history since her creation in 1831. We see the two in all sorts of different styles in years like 1852, 1880, 1895, 1912, 1923, 1941, 1964, 1991, and a ton more of unlisted dates. Most probably just assumed Frankenstein was a member of the team, but his role in this series is quite different from expectations set up as a third party to the main story and still in pursuit of a woman that wants nothing to do with him.
